When I was growing up, I was a huge Carolina basketball fan. During the 80's while living in Raleigh, you had to pick a side then. You were either a State fan or a Heels fan. My love at that time was with the heels. I bled blue and white so much that as a little child my dad attempted to take me to an NC State home basketball game in Reynolds Coliseum. He told me I cried so hard that day and demanded the leave the arena upon a few minutes of being there. I guess my hatred wouldn't allow for us to enjoy a great basketball game.
It's funny how things change. Upon entering NC State and never once looking at UNC to go to college, everyone who knows me will tell you how much of a die hard I am of NC State. Today is the day that the two teams meet for the first time this season in the Dean Dome. Both team ranked in the top 25, it should promise to be a great game. If State beats Carolina today it would be the first time out of two tries a 12-1 Pack team defeated Carolina since the 1981-82 season. For a close friend of mine it would also mean relentless phone calls for simple payback I had to endure from might blue season I suffered a year ago.
NC State takes on the Tarheels today at 3 pm. on ESPN2.
